Abstract
The governor rope of elevators is marked with paint corresponding to each floor level. The trouble has been that the mark fades away in a few months in highspeed elevators or those with high working ratios. In this paper, we propose magnetic marking on steel rope to take the place of paint marking. We also developed a recording unit. We report magnetic recording and reproduction on the governor rope.
