IBIS-FRS is a framework of design information that can be used to represent the reasoning process of designers in order to assist them in the decision-making processes. It is a combination of two systems – IBIS (Issue-Based Information Systems) and FRS (Fuzzy Reasoning System). This paper presents an application of IBIS-FRS to architectural design: the development of systems for evaluation of living’s configuration in dwelling designs. These systems are used to analyse two cases of study and the results show the potential of IBIS-FRS in organizing the design information and in evaluating and improving the design.
