Abstract
Temporal abstraction (TA) transforms temporal data into a symbolic interval-based representation of data. Most TA methods is applicable to data collected regularly over short periods. We proposed a TA method for temporal data irregularly collected over long periods. The core of our method is the notion of "change of states" and algorithms to detect them. We applied the method to analyze a hepatitis database with results evaluated by medical experts.
