Abstract
Many uncertain factors must be considered in efficiently and practically controlling traffic. Inflow control with fuzzy logic is proposed to maintain smooth traffic on urban expressways. Advanced inflow control with ramp metering is considered due to the rapid progress of ITS technology. A fuzzy inflow controller is formulated in practical ramp metering based on the above research. The advantages of fuzzy inflow controller are summarized with empirical studies.
