This special issue consolidates the latest research and practical case studies on mechatronic systems in manufacturing that incorporate multi-axis positioning systems. Such mechatronic systems include, but are not limited to, five-axis machining centers and mill-turn machine tools. This issue also focuses on the serial links of parallel-link robotic manipulators (industrial robots) and machine tools with three orthogonal axes.
In the Spring and Autumn meetings of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE), the organized session, “Multi-axis Control, Machining and Measurement,” has been hosted by the organizers, including the Guest Editors of this special issue, for more than 20 years. The authors and audiences of this organized session in the past will be more than welcome to submit their latest research works to this special issue; however, it is open to all researchers and practitioners.
Topics of interest in this special issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Control and path planning for machine tools, industrial robots, and other mechatronic systems in manufacturing
* Metrology and error calibration for mechatronic systems in manufacturing
* Control of machining applications
* Measurement on mechatronic systems in manufacturing
* Applications of artificial intelligence in machines and machining processes

*This site is desgined based on HTML5 and CSS3 for modern browsers, e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera.
