Abstract

This article describes fundamental characteristics of JIMA (Japan Industrial Management Association). JIMA was established in 1950, aiming at incorporating engineering approach to management of manufacturing companies. JIMA covers wide range of engineering approaches, concepts, and methodologies, and its scope is expanded to such industries as service and information techniques. The article also discusses current issues and future directions of JIMA from the viewpoint of rejuvenation and internationalization of its activities.
