Under so unique research and education environment in Japanese universities without departments of statistics, Japanese Society of Applied Statistics has been promoting and developing several types of application of advanced statistical methodology to industries or different sciences since the establishment in 1971. The society also made dedicated efforts to establish Japanese Federation of Statistical Science Association in 2005. Recently we recommended to submit three proposals to the Japanese universities on the education of trans-disciplinary methodology for problem solving by relevant industries or academic societies under the leadership of both Japanese Federation of Statistical Science Association and Transdisciplinary Federation of Science and Technology.
