Abstract

Japan Society for Management Information (JASMIN) was established when the Japan Society for Management Informatics (JASMIN) and Association for Management Information (AMI) were merged in 1992, with a scope of researches into utilization technology of information technology (IT). The article describes its brief history, as well as the positioning and the status of the Society vis-à-vis other academic societies in the related fields, the society in general and the international community in the field, in particular Association for Information Systems (AIS) and International Conferences on Information Systems (ICIS).
