On September 6, 2017, Prof. Lotfi A. Zadeh, the father of fuzzy logic, passed away. He had published a paper entitled Fuzzy Sets, which became the origin of fuzzy logic, soft computing, computing with words, etc. As of December 4, 2017, over 90,000 papers in the IEEE Xplore included the word “fuzzy,” and many industrial products, including washing machines, rice cookers, sphygmomanometers, and others, had been released. It is true that we cannot imagine today’s world without fuzzy logic.
This special issue honors Prof. Zadeh for his invaluable efforts in these and many other fields. We invite researchers influenced by Prof. Zadeh’s achievements to solicit review articles as well as original papers that address the theory and applications of fuzzy logic or related topics.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the theory and application of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, fuzzy control, fuzzy systems, fuzzy clustering, fuzzy information processing, fuzzy hardware and architectures, fuzzy linguistic models, approximate reasoning, soft computing, etc.
