Abstract

In this paper, we propose a model for machines sequencing considering operation flexibility and automated guided vehicle (AGV) guidepath for computer-aided process planning system. The machine sequences for all parts should be selected based on the following multiple criteria: (1) minimizing the sum of machine processing time and the material handling time of all the parts considering production volume, machining time, machine capacity, material handling time, and capacity of transfer device and (2) balancing workload between machines. A genetic algorithm is developed to solve the problem and numerical examples are presented to illustrate the efficiency of proposed approach.
